BILLY C. BARNES
Tupelo " Billy C. Barnes, 81, died Saturday December 1, 2007, at his residence in Tupelo after a lengthy illness. An Itawamba County native he was born November 6, 1926 to the late Baudry C. and Vera Cummings Barnes. He was raised in the Ozark Community in Itawamba Community and was a longtime resident of Tupelo. He retired after 33 years with Stone Container where he was a plant supervisor. He was an Army Veteran and had served in the Philippians during WWII. He was an avid fisherman and was a long time member of the Tupelo Masonic Lodge. He was a member of West Main Church of Christ.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Minister James Segers officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ellen Strickland Barnes of Tupelo; one son, Mike Barnes of Tupelo; and a sister, Dorothy Price of Memphis.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Burkett, Willie Jennings, Billy Wayne Pearce, Billy Langford, James Bryan, and Mickey Akers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
