Billie Hamilton Jackson Tupelo- Billie Hamilton Jackson, 93, died September 5, 2013. Born August 4, 1920 to Jo Ella Wilbanks Hamilton and John Henry Hamilton of Oliver, Alabama. She moved to Tupelo from Chattanooga to help open Central Service Association in the 1939. She married James Albert Jackson, July 11, 1945. Billie was a long- time member of Harrisburg Baptist Church where her husband was a charter member. She was also active in the Fidelis Sunday School Class at Harrisburg. Billie retired from The Tupelo Water & Light Dept. For many years, Billie was a member of West Heights Social Club. Billie was a great cook who loved her family and served many meals at her home for friends and family. Although she was modest about it she was known for her baked "Arkansas" hams, yeast rolls, pies and cakes. She loved the "hills" of her Alabama roots and was always up for a trip to North Alabama. Her sense of humor and giving personality will truly be missed. A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at the W.E. Pegues Funeral Home Chapel in Tupelo. Rev. David Langerfeld and Rev. David Smith will officiate. Survived by her children Jim Jackson (Jackie) of Jackson, Ricky Jackson (Becky) of Tupelo and Julie (Glenn) Herrington of Hoover, AL. Eight grandchildren Meredith (Chris) Shapley of Starkville, John Jackson of Jackson, Horton Nash of Colona, CO, Sam Jackson of Memphis, Anna Claire Jackson of Nashville, Brooks Jackson, Tupelo, Mary Elizabeth Herrington and Bo Herrington of Hoover, three great-grandchildren Jack Shapley, Catherine Shapley and Will Shapley. She is also survived by 28 nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death her husband of xx years, her son Jerry and daughter Virginia "Gini", nine brothers & sisters, Jim Hamilton, Emmett Hamilton, Wiley Hamilton, Nell Rogers, Reba Wear, Bess Goidel, Pauline Damon, Elizabeth Patterson and Irene Hamilton. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chris Shapley, John Jackson, Horton Nash, Sam Jackson, Brooks Jackson and Bo Herrington. Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Harrisburg Sunday School Class. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, and 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Sanctuary Hospice House, PO Box 2177, Tupelo, MS, 38803 or Harrisburg Baptist Church, 4675 Cliff Gookin Blvd Tupelo, MS 38801.
