Bill Perry

Tupelo - WILLIAM M. "BILL" PERRY, 79, died Monday, November 19, 2007, at his residence after sudden illness. A Tupelo native and longtime resident, he was born March 30, 1928 to the late R.D. and Ethel Burnett Perry. He was a graduate of Tupelo High School and The University of Mississippi. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner of his family business, KAK Dry Cleaners and later joined IBM which took him all over the U.S. and many different countries, including Paris, France. After 32 years of service with IBM, he retired and returned to Tupelo in the mid 90s. He served on the Board of Directors for the Tupelo Synphony. He was known as an accomplished bridge player and was a member of the Tupelo Duplicate Bridge Club. Also an avid golfer, he enjoyed playing several times a week with the Doyle Dandie Golf Group at the Tupelo Country Club. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. B.F. Lee and Rev. Andy Ray officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Reedy Perry of Tupelo; a daughter, Debra Roberts and husband, Paul, of Flower Mound, Tex.; three sons, Michael Perry and wife, Mary Ellen, of San Diego, Calif., David Perry and wife, Pamela, of Ft. Collins, Co., and Mark Perry and wife, Bernie, of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Evelyn Perry of Johnson City, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Perry, Jason Perry, Susan Perry, Laura Perry, Matthew Perry, Paul Perry, Lori Shelton, and Derek Shelton; two great-grandchildren; one step-daughter, Carol Lynn Herren and husband, Jim, of Smithville; one step-son, Brad Reedy, of Saltillo; five step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lorraine Jumper Perry; his sister, Mary Perry; and three brothers, Roy D., Walker, and Milton Perry.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
