Saltillo- William “Bill” Archer Bedford, 86, died Friday, December 9, 2022, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born September 9, 1936, to John Archer Bedford and Lena Agnes Kellum Bedford in Tupelo. After graduating from Belden High School, Bill joined the United States Navy and served for four years. Bill and his late wife, Beverly Shedd Bedford, were the owners of Honda of Tupelo for over 40 years. Bill was a faithful and active member of Faith Baptist Church in Saltillo until his health declined. Bill was a family man through and through. He was loved unconditionally by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who affectionately named him “Daddy Bill,” a title he carried most proudly.
Bill is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Bedford Waddle and Leisha Bedford Boardley, both of Saltillo; three grandchildren, William Andrew Francis of Saltillo, Annacarmie Elizabeth McCormick and her husband, Don, of Bladenboro, North Carolina, Courtney McKenzie Boardley of Lumberton, North Carolina; six great-grandchildren, Makenna Kate Lyles, Drew Francis, Brent Francis, Lily Karole McCormick, Anna Bella McCormick, and Christopher Shrimpton; and one brother, Joe K. Bedford and his wife, Pat, of New Albany; and one sister, Joye Hall of Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Beverly Bedford; parents, Archer and Agnes Bedford; son-in-law, John R. Waddle, Jr.; and one sister, Bettye Ruth Dobson.
Visitation will be 4 until 6 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Pegues, Saltillo.
Services honoring Bill’s life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2022, at the Saltillo Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Bro. Kenneth Pollock officiating. Graveside services will be at Saltillo Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Will Francis, Don McCormick, Drew Francis, Brent Francis, Brandon Frost, Justin Sartain, Jeff Francis, and Lany McCullough.
Honorary pallbearers will be great-granddaughters, Makenna Kate Lyles, Lily Karole McCormick, and Anna Bella McCormick, and great-grandson, Christopher Shrimpton.
