Betty Whitehead

BETTY WHITEHEAD Tupelo - Betty Carol Whitehead, 78, died Sunday, March 1, 2015, at her residence in Plantersville after an extended illness. Betty was born in Kentucky August 14, 1936. She married W.D. Whitehead in 1965 and they lived most of their married life in the Tupelo area. She enjoyed a number of interest and pastimes, most notablely her talents with oil painting. She also loved working with ceramics and crocheting. She retired from the North Mississippi Medical Center where she worked in the hospital food court for a number of years. Betty was a member of Mill Villege Baptist Church. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. David Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in Center Hill Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her husband, W.D. Whitehead; one son, Michael Whitehead (Sherry) all of Tupelo; one sister, Helen Lamb; five brothers, Darrell Adams , Danny Adams, Dean Adams, Dill Adams, and Paul Muncie; six grandchildren, Joey Dunaway, Jamie (Shawna) Dunaway, Walter Dunaway (Sharon), Bailey Whitehead, Dylan Whitehead, and Ethan Whitehead; thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Rutledge and one sister, Etta. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015 at the funeral home.
