Betty J. Reeves, 87, departed for the Pearly Gates on Tuesday, August 29, 2018. She was born in Loretto, Tennessee on October 21, 1930 to Ernest and Margaret Koelsch. She attended Sacred Heart School, graduated from Loretto High School and also attended Beauty School in Nashville. She married Bob Hemmen in 1953 and had two sons, Robert and Joseph. While in Loretto, she was involved in the Altar Society and American Legion Auxiliary and worked as a teller at American Bank in St. Joseph, Tennessee.

In 1979, Betty married Sims Reeves. They lived in Tupelo for 39 years where she worked as a teller at BancorpSouth for 16 years. She was also active in numerous organizations at St. James Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Robert Hemmen (Maggie) and Joseph Hemmen (Missy); two children by marriage, Deb Bain (Jim) and Sims Reeves, Jr. (Laura); eight grandchildren; three sisters, Jean Berry, Carol Rohling and Ann Smith; and two brothers, Richard and Jack Koelsch.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Bob; brother, James Koelsch; and infant son, Michael Hemmen.

Services honoring her life will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2018 at St. James Catholic Church with Father Tim Murphy officiating.

Visitation will be 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2018 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo and will be closed with a Rosary Service.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Loretto.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Clark, Pete Fava, Robert Hemmen, Bo Bain, Joseph Hemmen and Bill Spitler.
