Betty Clement McNutt

Betty C. McNutt Tupelo - Betty Clement McNutt entered her heavenly home on September 24, 2014. She was born July 28, 1928, in the Birmingham Ridge Community to Jess Miles and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Clement. She graduated from Saltillo High School in 1945. She and her family lived in many places such as Hurricane, New Harmony, Ellistown, New Albany, Saltillo and Tupelo. She married Roy McNutt on July 6, 1947. She was the secretary at East Union Attendance Center for ten years; she later worked as a tax manager. She loved children, and she worked with the preschool class at several churches and served on various committees. She was a current member of East Heights Baptist Church. Betty volunteered for multiple years for Meals on Wheels. She loved Jesus, her family and her friends. Betty was a very thoughtful person and took time to encourage others. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, serving others, reading, gardening and traveling. Services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, 28, 2014, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors. Burial will be at Lee Memorial Park. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Poland (Paul); two grandsons, Michael Poland (Holly), Jonathan Poland (Lane); one great-grandson, Reece Poland; one step-great-grandson, Ty Corbin all of Guntown; two sisters-in-law, Betty Blissard and Faye Clement; one brother-in-law, Philip Long. She was also survived by five nieces, Jennifer Noel, Michelle Clement, Tommie McNutt, Jeanie White and Coline Merritt and nine nephews, Mike Dillard, Terry Dillard, Miles Clement, Roger Smith, Jimmy Smith, Don Long, Robert Long, Malcolm Blissard and James Blissard. She is preceded in death by her husband of almost 61 years, Roy McNutt; her parents; one sister, Mary Nell Dillard; two brothers, Bud Clement and Fred Clement; one nephew, Tony Clement; four sisters-in-law, Janice Clement, Evelyn Smith, Kitty Long and Lottie Smith and three brothers-in-law, Tom, Harold and Herschell McNutt. Visitation will be 1:30 to service time Sunday, 28, 2014, W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Pallbearers will be Miles Clement, Rusty Clement, Mike Conway, Mike Dillard, Don Long, Jimmy Smith and Jimmy West. Honorary pallbearers will be Betty's special care-givers, Jean Newell, Frances Oswalt, Tracy Patterson, Hazel Pearson, Joyce Rowe, Lois Russell, Mashanda Smith and Martha Stewart. Memorials may be made to East Heights Baptist Church, 205 Lake Street, Tupelo, MS 38804, Street Jude's, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, and Mississippi Alzheimer's Association, 196 Charmant Drive Suite 4, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
