Betty Markiewicz

LAKE PIOMINGO Betty Elizabeth Markiewicz, 74, died Saturday, April 3, 2010, at her home. She was born June 4, 1935, in Chicago. She grew up in Grayslake, Ill., and graduated from Grayslake Community High School. She was a longtime resident of North Chicago, working for National Press for many years. She later moved to Wisconsin, where she owned three printing businesses in Tomahawk, Schofield and Athens, Wis. She moved to Lake Piomingo in 1999. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening, sewing and crafting.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope Full Gospel Church on Springhill Road with Pastor Chris Stacks officiating. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her sons, Tom Markiewicz (Teresa) of Lake Piomingo, Daniel Markiewicz (Beth) of Santa Rosa, Calif., and John Markiewicz of Milwaukee, Wis.; her daughters, Cathy Huber (Rick) of Beach Park, Ill., Debbie Fowler of Beach Park, Ill., and Debbie Olesak of Eggville; her daughter-in-law, Susan Knudson of Fort Collins, Colo.; 14 grandchildren, Donna Brunson (Tim) of Knoxville, Tenn., Josh Birckbichler (Jackie) of Lake Piomingo, Matthew Birckbichler (Jenn) of Lake Piomingo, Andrew Birckbichler of Lake Piomingo, Michael Pinkham of Lake Piomingo, Will Hayward (Kylie) of Saltillo, Bethany Ann Stull (Jeremy) of Arlington Heights, Ill., Frederick Hammann of Santa Rosa, Calif., Matthew Markiewicz of Santa Rosa, Calif., Tracie Lynne Markiewicz of Santa Rosa, Calif., Raymond Markiewicz of Santa Rosa, Calif., Brandon Markiewicz of Santa Rosa, Calif., Marcus Brehm of Beach Park, Ill., and Dana Roberts (Kevin) of Eggville; 13 great-grandchildren, Hailey, Rayanne, Kaleb, Emma, Lacy, Braelyn, Aleigh, Alex, Katlyne, Callie, Brody, Kylie and Amy.

She was preceded in death by her longtime partner, Owen Knudson; her parents; and two great-grandchildren, Scott and Keegan
