BETTY MALONE LACKEY

Tupelo - Betty Jean Lackey, 84, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017, at Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born December 25, 1932, to Quay Grover and Verna Bass McLarty. She was married to Joe Malone for over 20 years before his passing in 1972. She married Al Lackey until his passing in 2015. Betty was the owner of Clover Leaf Drive-In for 25 years before selling and working at Danver's for 40 years. She loved people and was a hard worker. Betty was a faithful member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church until her health prevented her from attending.



Survivors include her son, Gary Malone of Pontotoc; grandson, Chris Malone (Allyson) of Pontotoc; great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Hayes, Gabe, Sawyer and Maynor Malone; sisters, Helen Gilileo (Don) of Leesburg, Florida and Marilyn Fitzgerald (Gerry) of Bartow, Florida.



She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Little Joe Malone; second husband, Al Lackey; sisters, Shirley Leavins and Barbara Ann Sorrell and brothers, Horace McLarty and Billy Joe McLarty.



Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.



Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Burt Harper officiating. Burial will be in White Zion Cemetery.



Pallbearers will be Bob Lackey, Jimmy Malone, Dean Jennings, Larry Wade, Charles Watson and Phil Holder.
