Tupelo--Betty Shepherd Hayes, 79, of Tupelo, departed to eternal glory on Saturday, December 11, 2010. She was born December 2, 1931, to the late Buron Thomas Shepherd and Eufaula Hinson Ross in Tunica, MS.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. at Jonestown Cemetery in Jonestown, MS.
She is survived by her three children, Scott Hayes and wife Ann of LaPlace, LA; Beverly Brame of Tupelo; and Steve Hayes and wife Sharon of Brandon, MS; two sisters, Marsha Gilbert and Glynda Ashmore; one brother Rodney Shepherd all of Tupelo; seven grandchildren, Greg Birdsong of Clarksdale, MS; Preston Hayes of LaPlace, LA; Jessica Graves of Saltillo, MS; Jason Hayes of LaPlace, LA; Lauren ODell of Tupelo, MS; Sarah Peyton Hayes and Savannah Hayes both of Brandon, MS; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald Shepherd and Mike Shepherd; three sisters, Martha Ann Ross, Jimmy Nell Shepherd, and Patricia Balducci.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2010 from at the Funeral Home .
