BETTY JEAN GRAVES Ohio - Betty Jean Graves passed to her heavenly home following an illness, on Monday April 6, 2015. She was living in her winter residence in Englewood, Florida and enjoyed her last days surrounded by her loving family. She was 84 years of age. Betty was born in Winston County, near Louisville on September 2, 1930. Her parents were Roy Bane and Carrie Mills Bane. Betty was married to the late Sam Ervin Graves, of Tupelo. She was also married earlier to the late Charles Thompson of Corinth. She was a loving mother and homemaker most of her life; but also worked as a professional caregiver in private duty. She enjoyed her family and especially her ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Betty lived most of her life in Tupelo; but her last two years, she was a resident of Ohio, living with her daughter & family. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Tim Brown officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. Burial will in Beech Springs Cemetery. She is survived by her daughters, Judy Thompson Grone (John) of Delphos, Ohio, Genia Graves (Dennis Dapp) of Saltillo, Angela Savely (Barry) of Batesville, and Janet Rock (Kenny) of Saltillo; her two stepchildren, Sandra McAslan of Tupelo, and Sammy (late wife Bobby) of Okolona, and his three sons; her siblings, Ilene Bridges of Jackson, and David Bane of Louisville. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lamar Bane; and one daughter, Patricia "Patty" Graves. Visitation will be 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2015, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo and continued Saturday at 11 a.m. until service time.
