BETTY JEAN COOK



McCalla, Ala " Betty Jean Cook, 71, longtime resident of Mooreville, died Friday, November 16, 2007, at The Plantation Manor near Birmingham, Alabama after a lengthy illness. A native of the Unity Community east of Saltillo, she was born July 24, 1936 to the late Leeman L. and Madie Lee Young Hester. She was a 1956 graduate of Saltillo High School. For many years she worked as an inspector with Joyner-Fields Manufacturing and later with Prentiss Manufacturing. She loved vegetable gardening and was known for her love of all those she knew. Her husband of 42 years, Hoyle Cook, preceded her in death July 8, 2006. She was a member of Mantachie Church of Christ.



Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2007 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Castor Buse officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.



Survivors include one daughter, Rhonda Aust and her husband, Randy, of Birmingham; one sister, Sybil Hester Erwin of the Macedonia Community; three grandchildren, Catherine, Daniel, and Thomas Aust all of Birmingham.



Pallbearers will be Aubrey Harris, Ronnie Robison, Ricky Thompson, Tony Thompson, and Tom Smith
