BETTY MAE BETHAY Tupelo - Betty Mae Bethay, 87, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015, at her home in Tupelo. She was a native of Lee County and lifelong resident of Tupelo. Betty was born to Longino L. Bethay and Mamie Clifford Pettigrew on April 2, 1928. Betty was employed at Prentiss Manufacturing Company of Booneville as Corporate Secretary until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of East Main Church of Christ. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 6, 2015, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Minister Gary Williams officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park Cemetery in Verona. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. She is survived by two brothers, James Bethay (Sue) of Booneville and Ronnie Bethay of Brandon; three sisters, Nancy Gearhart of Cold Springs, KY, Wanda Flick of Lexington, KY, and Judy Rogers of Rogers, AR; stepmother Esta Bethay of Booneville; four nieces, five nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews. Her extended family includes East Main Church of Christ members, loving caregivers and special friend Mike Mayhew. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Troyce Smith; her stepmother, Doris Bethay; and brother-in-law, Bob Gearheart. Honorary pallbearers will be the elders and deacons of East Main Church of Christ. Visitation will be Sunday, April 5, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the East Main Church of Christ, 1606 E. Main St., Tupelo, MS 38801. Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.peguesfuneralhome.com .
