Tupelo - Bessie Kenney Barclay, 102, died Thursday, July 19, 2018, at the Greenhouses at Traceway. She was in good health until she passed. She was born in Mount Vernon on November 9, 1915, to Mittie Wade Kenney and William Henry Kenney. She moved to Atlanta, Georgia shortly after she married Townsend Moss, of Okolona. After the passing of her husband, Bessie married Jay Barclay in 1971. She was a Doctor’s Assistant at MARTA Transit Authority. She loved to dance and paint ceramics.
A private family graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.
Her son Billy Moss, her two husbands Townsend Moss and Jay Barclay, her step daughter Brenda Jones, and her sister Hazel Kenney have preceded her in death.
She is survived by her step children, Tom Barclay and Sharon Barclay; her nephew Bob Kenney; her niece Martha Stevens; her great-niece and nephew, Sandi McGee and Mark Stevens; and their children and grandchildren.
