BERTHA BARBER
Mooreville - Bertha Barber, 78, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis after a long illness. She was born Jan. 1, 1928, in Lee County to Samuel Jefferson Bishop and Nettie Cleo Brown Bishop. She was a retired seamstress from Sadler Manufacturing and a former employee of Blue Bell Inc. for 35 years. She was a member of the East Main Church of Christ. She enjoyed her cats, working in her flowers and the special time she spent with her family.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues. Bro. Gary Williams will officiate, and Bro. Darrell Beard will assist. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 62 years, Charles M. "Pete" Barber of Mooreville; one daughter, Debbie Barber Lindsey of Mooreville; one son, Charles Ray Barber and wife, Sheila, of Mooreville; two sisters, Elsie Mae Rushing and husband, Cortez, of Dorsey and Grace Potts of Tupelo; one granddaughter, Stacy Barber of Mooreville; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Carl Ellis Bishop and James Thomas "Jim" Bishop; and a sister, Gertha Nell Herring.
Pallbearers will be James Lee Smith, Steve Kelly, Marlon Geno, Scotty Bishop, Ken Pearson and Scotty Scruggs.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
