BERNICE HILL
Tupelo - Bernice Tidwell Hill, 87, died Friday, March 16, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Union County native, she was born January 20, 1920 to the late James T. and Paralee Bishop Tidwell. A graduate of New Albany High School, she then went on to Northeast Mississippi Junior College and Mississippi State University where she graduated with a B.S. degree in education. Earlier in her life she taught school at Mooreville Elementary and then taught for over 20 years in the Washington, Missouri School System from which she retired. She was married to Clarence L. Hill who preceded her in death in August of 1989. Prior to declining health, she was active in the Young At Heart Club. She enjoyed life and teaching, having touched many lives through her work in education. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Mike Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughers, Reba Brown of Tupelo and Jancice Lomenick and husband, Eddie of Tupelo; one sister, Carolyn Griffin and husband, Wayne, of Baldwyn; five grandchildren, Lisa Brown Moore and husband, Sid, of Macon Ga., Russ Brown of Tupelo, Bart Brown and wife, Gina, of Carisile, Penn., Suzye Lomenick Sheffield, of Tupelo, Merrie Lomenick Hughes and husband, Andy of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, C.L. Hill, a brother, Bobby Tidwell; a son-in-law, James Russell Brown and a grandson, C.E. Lomenick, III.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home
