BERNELL TATE
Tupelo - Bernell Tate, 82, died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born November 26, 1923 at Greenwood Springs in Monroe County to the late Eugene and Alpha Tate and lived most of his life in Tupelo. He was a retired employee of city of Tupelo where he worked as a mechanic for 21 years. He enjoyed traveling and loved animals, especially his dog, Skippy. He was remembered as a faithful church member with perfect Sunday School attendance for 43 years. He was presently a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Don Reed, Rev. R. J. Wilemon, and Rev. Doug Jones officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Beasley Tate of Tupelo; one daughter, Carolyn Allen; one son, Jerry King, Sr. and wife, Cheryl; three grandchildren, Jerry King Jr. and wife,Kelly, and Laurie King, and Wesley Webb and wife, Casey, all of Tupelo; and two great-grandchildren. .
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Dettie Mize and Lula Harless; three brothers, Ollie, O'Neal, and Webster "Web" Tate.
Pallbearers will be Tommy, Jimmy, Scott, and Carl Beasley, Jerry King, Jr., and Wesley Webb.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
