Bernadette Mabry

Tupelo - Bernadette Myers Mabry, 86, died Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born December 16, 1921 in McComb, to Clifford Leroy and Loretta Wilhelmsen Myers. A 1939 graduate of McComb High School, she then attended the Felt and Tarrant Comptometer School and began working for the government in 1940. She worked as a cost accountant. She and her husband co-owned a paint and craft business in Hattiesburg. She was a talented artist who enjoyed tole painting, oil, watercolor and acrylic painting, and also taught classes. She loved to do all kinds of handwork and sewing and enjoyed reading. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Andy Ray officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Swindoll of Tupelo; two granddaughters, Pamela Stein and husband, Blake, and Kelly Swindoll, all of Tupelo; two great-grandchildren, Drew Stein of Starkville and Tupelo and Zack Stein of Cleveland and Tupelo; one sister-in-law, Laverne Myers of Metairie, La.; one brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Carl and Bea Mabry of Tupelo; a special cousin, Grace Mary East of McComb.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Llewellyn R. Mabry who died June 22, 1996; and her brother, Clifford L. Myers.

Pallbearers will be Drew Stein, Zack Stein, Blake Stein, Stan Stein, Chris Hill and Gene Newcomb.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 412 West Main, Tupelo, MS 38804.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
