BAMA STRAWN

Tupelo ? Bama Ree Faust Strawn, 81, died Sunday, February 2, 2014, at The Franks Greenhouse at Traceway Manor after a long illness. She was born on May 29, 1932, in Union County to A.K. and Josephine Faust. She married Charles Hughe Strawn on June 4, 1950. She graduated from Macedonia in 1950 where she was voted Most Beautiful and was an All Star Basketball player. She was a caterer for 36 years. She took pride in preparing and serving others with her cooking. Catering wedding receptions was her favorite catering event and as she said many times, ?Each bride has a special place in my heart?. After many years of cooking and catering she published a cookbook with her sister, Verna Reaves, ?Between Us Girls?. She retired from catering in 1998, when her health declined. She was a very active member of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class and the WSCS. She was a hard working lady who loved the Lord. She was adored by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 1977, when she became a grandmother, her name changed to BaRee. All of her family, friends and caretakers called her BaRee. She will always be remembered by her giving nature and love of life.

Visitation will be Monday, February 3, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at W.E. Pegues Funeral Home, 535 West Jefferson Street, Tupelo, Mississippi. Services will be Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church conducted by Dr. Bryan Collier and Rev. Ray Rooney. Visitation will be at Wesley United Methodist Church from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Burial will be at Salem Cemetery, Union County. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include one son, Charles Kenny Strawn and wife, Flo, of Port Gibson, Mississippi; two daughters, Reta Jo Doughty and husband, Bill of Tupelo, Mississippi and Suyin Wiygul of Saltillo, Mississippi; one sister, Verna Reaves and husband, James Roy Reaves of West Union, Mississippi; her grandchildren, Dr. Amanda Strawn Penny and husband, Ed, Lindsay Strawn Adams and husband, Will, Julie Strawn Brown and husband, Edwin, David Nathaniel Grubbs and wife, Betsy, Elizabeth Faust Berthelot and husband, Eric, Shannon Doughty Grannon and husband, Stephen, William Evans Doughty, Jr. and wife, Carole Ann, Jennifer Doughty McDonald, William Strawn Freeman and Mandy, Jeffrey Scott Wiygul, Jr.; 22 great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephew; the staff at The Franks House and staff at Sanctuary Home Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Strawn on April 6, 2008; her parents and a brother, Quay Faust.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, David Nathaniel Grubbs, William Strawn Freeman, William Evans Doughty, Jr., Stephen Joseph Grannon, Edward Jamison Penny, Douglas Edwin Brown, Jr., John Coleman Bacot and Jeffrey Scott Wiygul, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carolyn Andrews, Patti Burks, Elaine Hudson, Jan Hunt, Martha Langley and Ruth Wilkinson.
