ARTHUR V. LANPHERE
Saltillo - Arthur Vance Lanphere, 45, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after a brief illness. A Belleville, Ill. native, he was born September 8, 1960 to Theo Douglas and Lelia Bolen Lanphere. A graduate of Mooreville High School, he was selected as a Presidential Scholar and traveled to Washington D.C. to represent North Mississippi. He also played football in high school. He then moved to Memphis where he attended Memphis State University and met his wife, Susan. In 1990, they returned to Tupelo. For the last five years, he had lived in Saltillo. He worked for Elger for 13 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing billiards. He will be remembered for his excellent cooking for his friends and family. He was a member of East Main Church of Christ.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Ministers Gary Williams and Darrell Beard officiating. Burial will be in McNeil Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Susan Lanphere of Saltillo; his daughter, Samantha, of the home; his parents, Doug and Lelia Lanphere of Saltillo; one sister, Marilyn D. Lehman and husband, Dan, of Saltillo; one brother, Raymond Lanphere and wife, Pam, of Charleston, SC; six nieces and three nephews; one great-niece and one great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Helen and Raymond Bolen and his paternal grandparents, Paul C. and Myrtle Dugard Lanphere.
Pallbearers will be Members of East Main Church of Christ.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m.Friday and 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
