ARLIS A. GAULT
Tupelo - ARLIS A. GAULT, 78, died Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A Sherman native, he was born January 19, 1928 to the late Vivian Kelly Gault. He was a graduate of Sherman High School and then went on to serve in the US Navy in Washington, DC at the Pentagon. Later he attended Mississippi State University where he graduated with a degree in accounting. He then enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. During his career in the finance business, he and his wife, Betty, lived in Memphis, Tenn., Montgomery, Ala., and Paducah Kentucky. They moved back to Tupelo in 1981. He had worked for BancorpSouth the past 91/2 years. While living in Paducah, he was president of Friendly Finance and served on the board of directors. He was a past member of the Lions' Club and an active member of the Tupelo Luncheon Civitan Club. He was an avid fan of Mississippi State sports. He was a member of Gloster Street Church of Christ.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Ministers James Segars, Brian Galloway, and Chad Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Rial Gault; one daughter, Vicki Littrell and husband, David, of Tupelo; two sisters, Peggy Bowen of Fulton, and Martha Madura of Jackson; one brother, Don Gault of Dayton, Va.; two grandchildren, Andrea Reynolds and Daniel Alexander, both of Tupelo; and three great-grandchildren, Palmer Reynolds, Kathleen Reynolds, and Adam Alexander.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy McClellan, and two brothers, Bernard Gault and John D. Gault.
Pallbearers will be David Bowen, Danny McClellan, Randy McClellan, Bobby Waters, Jason Littrell, and Daniel Alexander.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
