Sherman - ARLENE JONES, 66, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at her residence after a brief illness. She was born September 11, 1941 in Pontotoc County to the late James and Etoyle Moss Smith. Earlier in her life, she was a seamstress with Joyner-Fields and Town Creek Companies. Most of her life was spent as a homemaker, taking care of her family. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, arts and crafts, especially making angels, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Baptist church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Tracy Quillen officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Robert E. "Bob" Jones of Sherman; her children, Rickey E. Jones, Patricia Stilwell and husband, Myke, William L. Jones, and Pamela Floyd and husband, Timothy, all of Sherman; nine grandchildren, Jason Jones, Kayla Kelly, Chase Jones, Latricia Jones, Cherish Jones, Micheal Jones, Casie Floyd, Cody Floyd, and Dylan Stilwell; one sister, Faye Smith of Houlka; four brothers, Henry Smith, James Smith, and William O. Smith, all of Belden, and Dusty Smith of Ripley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandaughter, Elaina Jones.
Pallbearers will be Woody Smith, Scotty Jones, Anthony Jones, Danny Smith, Tim Floyd and Travis Smith.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
