Saltillo - Archie Stokes Coggins, 79, died Saturday, January 30, 2010, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born April 24, 1930 to Harley and Zora Hester Coggins. He attended Unity High School. He was employed at Super Sagless for 26 years. He was a member of the Saltillo First United Methodist Church. He was an avid Ole Miss and New York Yankees fan. He loved fishing, his family, grandchildren and his Boston Terriors, Bruser, Prissy and Bo.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Tim Green officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery.
Survivors include his family who loved him dearly, his wife of 60 years, Charlotte Horton Coggins; his children, Peggy Smith (Mike) and Buddy Coggins (Nell); his four grandchildren, Brad Coggins (Ragan), Brandy Coggins, Renee Sandlin (Johnny) all of Saltillo and Kerry Slagowitz (Doug) of Orlando, Florida; five great grandchildren, Katelyn, Kennedy and Justin Sandlin of Saltillo and Aaron and Dain Slagowitz of Orlando; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Ralph, Miles, Bud, Lester, Bill and Major; three sisters, Mavis Coggins Stanford, Mildred Coggins Pharr and Carmen Coggins Bryson.
Pallbearers will be Brad Coggins, Johnny Sandlin, Ray Oliver, Larry Joe Coggins, Richard Coggins and Jim Bryson.
Visitation will be 5 - 9 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Saltiilo Funeral Home.
