Anthony McCord

Sherman - Anthony Lee McCord, III, 38, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Tupelo native, he was born January 18, 1972, to Anthony Lee McCord, Jr and Charlotte Grant McCord. He was a 1990 graduate of Saltillo High School and worked for Wal-Mart Distribution Center in New Albany. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, and water skiing and especially deer hunting. He also raised cattle and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church.

Services will be 4 p.m. Friday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Lee Graham and Rev. Bud McCraw officiating. Burial will be in Center Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Danica G. McCord of Sherman; five daughters, Mindy Lafayette (Toby) of Southaven, Brittany Scott (Mike) of Saltillo, Nikki McCord of Pontotoc, Kayla Reed (Keith Bass) of Tupelo, and Destiny McCord of the home; his mother, Charlotte Grant McCord of Tupelo; one sister, Sheila Sanders (Tim) of Myrtle; and two grandchildren, Cadence Scott and Levi Bass.

He was preceded in death by his father, Junior McCord; his grandparents, Anthony McCord, Sr., Verna McCord, J.W. Grant and Lorene Grant.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Hindman, Wiley Young, Jason Young, Tim Hall, Tim Pannell, and Bruce Skinner.

Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
