Annis Rutland

February 25, 1914 — July 21, 2008

Tupelo - Annis S. Rutland, 94, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born February 25, 1914 in Marion County, Alabama to James C. and Della Stephens Stovall. She was secretary at Rutland's Body Shop for seventeen years and later retired from Tecumseh Products. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir until her health failed. She greatly loved her family, friends, and tending her flowers.

Services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Glen Wiygul and Bro. Gary Williams officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Gail R. Geno and husband, Marlon; two sons, William S. Rutland and wife, Louise, and Ricky J. Rutland and wife, Carol, all of Tupelo; eight grandchildren, Connie R. Bradley of Jacksonville, Fla., Kay R. Sheffield, Annis R. Newell, Lisa Higgins, Wayne Geno, all of Tupelo, Gary Geno of Collierville, Tenn., Matthew Rutland and Joseph Rutland of Dorsey; eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, H.B. "Red" Rutland; a grandson, William S. Rutland, Jr.; one brother, Leburn Stovall; and two sisters, Verla Martin and Thelma Stovall.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons, Gary Geno, Cory Geno, Tyler Higgins, Justin Higgins, Matthew Rutland, Joseph Rutland, Danny Sheffield, and Jim Newell.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
