Annis Pettigrew

Tupelo - Annis L. Pettigrew, 97, died Saturday, February 20, 2010, at Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks after a short illness. A Nettleton native, she was born May 23, 1912 to Bruce and Maggie Coggins Young. She was married to Curtis Pettigrew who preceded her in death April 17, 1994. She was retired after many years with the Nettleton Schools where she worked in the school cafeteria. She loved flower gardening and working in her yard. She enjoyed cooking for her family and especially loved doting over her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Shiloh United Methodist Church of Nettleton and remained active in the Church until her declining health.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010 at Shiloh United Methodist Church with Rev. Aubrey Boren and Rev. Tommy R. Dabbs officiating. Burial will be in New Chapel Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her son, Leon Pettigrew (Diana) of Nettleton; two sisters, Geral Monaghan of Chattanooga, Tenn, and Eva Monaghan of Birmingham, Ala; three grandchildren, Lynn Harmon (Gerald), Lindy Green (Danny Wayne) and Curt Pettigrew (Jenna) all of Nettleton; two step-grandchildren, Suzanne Sullivan of Nettleton and Michael Jones of Mooreville; four great grandchildren, Jason Harmon (Caitie), Blake Green, Jacob Green and Ethan Pettigrew all of Nettleton; two step-great grandchildren, Josh Sullivan of Nettleton and Katie Jones of Mooreville; one great-great grandson, Adam Harmon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Johnnie Carl Monaghan and Lucille Payne; four brothers, Sam Thomas Young, Harvey Young, Noel Young and Dave Young.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Monaghan, Bobby Joe Young, Herman Young, Michael Jones and Wayne Morgan.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Church.
