Saltillo—Annie D. Turner, 83, passed away at home in Saltillo on Sunday, January 7, 2018.  She was born on June 14, 1934, to Delmer and Ida Whitt in Tremont.  She later became a standout basketball player at Tremont High School.  On November 11, 1977, she married James Turner, sharing a wonderful life until his death in 2005.

Before moving to Mississippi, Annie lived for a time in Gurney, Illinois, working for 30 years at National Press prior to retiring and moving to Verona in 1978.  Annie loved to dance, play bingo, and quilt with her mother-in-law.  She also enjoyed attending services at the Orchard Church in Tupelo.

She is leaves behind her children, Roger Jones and his wife Vanessa, Judy Knipp and her husband Greg, Mary Jones, Johnny Jones and his wife Tina, Susan Randolph and her husband Darrel, James Turner, Jr., Shawn Turner and his wife Shannon.  Annie was blessed with 29 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Turner; two sons, James and Mike Jones, along with four brothers and four sisters.

Pallbearers will be Randy Beane, Jason Mitchell, Terry Whitt, Kevin Jones, Jonathan Jones, and Shawn Turner.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 1 p.m. at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Neal Ramage officiating. Graveside services will follow at Lee Memorial Park.  Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until service time January 9, 2018 at W.E. Pegues Saltillo.

The service will be live streamed and recorded for those who may not be able to attend at www.peguesfuneralhome.com .
