ANNIE M. CULVER HIGDON
Tupelo - Annie Myrtle Culver Higdon, 79, died Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A native of Pontotoc County, she was born September 15, 1927 to the late John Isaac and Olga Velora McCain Davis. She lived most of her married life in the Nettleton area. She was Married to William C. (Tom) Culver February 26, 1941 and together they raised seven children. She was a good wife, a good mother and grandmother and a good helpmate to farm the land, raise the kids, and provide for the home. Later in life, she was a factory worker and a cook for Lee Manor Nursing Home. She enjoyed selling Avon and Stanley products and loved yard sales. She was a member of the Latter Day Saints.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2006 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Scott Hunter and Bishop Bryan Woodland officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters, Velora Fowler and husband, Jimmy, of Shannon, Marsha Alred of Hamilton, Ala., Shelia Donald and husband, Hal, of Evergreen, Willie Cox Bennett and husband, Kelly, of Smithville; one son, William C. Culver Jr., and wife, Dorthy, of Cedar Bluff, Ala.; one brother, John J. Davis, of Saltillo; 23 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom Culver; one son, John Culver, one daughter, Bet Gillentine, four grandchilden; three great-grandchildren
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
