Annie Clayton
TUPELO - Annie J Clayton, 91, died Thursday, May 3, 2007, at the Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born Aug. 6, 1915, to the late Albert W. McCarty and Emma Buchanan McCarty. She was a seamstress in the garment industry and worked at Milam Manufacturing and Reed Manufacturing. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, friends and family. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Eugene Asbury officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Belden.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris Streit (Dee) and Jean Ferguson (George); three granddaughters, Dedra Rainey (David), Debbie Brown (Chuck) and Kristy Riley (Mike); four grandsons, David Streit (Karen), Danny Streit (Melinda), Eddie Ferguson (Dana) and Stacy Ferguson; and 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lottie Addison; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Martin and Mary Price; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ben Halton Clayton; and by one sister and seven brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
