Iuka - Shirley Annette Clifton, 80, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 after an extended illness, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born July 12, 1938 to King and Ruby Scruggs. After retirement of 51 years with OBGYN & Associates, she and her husband, Jimmy, moved to Mill Creek where they enjoyed fishing, boating, feeding deer and spending time with her family, friends and three cats. She loved playing bridge weekly with her friends and attending ladies Bible Study. She was very active member at Iuka Church of Christ and formerly at West Main Church of Christ. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James "Jimmy" H. Clifton, Jr. of Iuka; one daughter, Anita Wolf (Lee) of Guntown; one son, Charles Clifton (Shannon) of the Auburn Community; one daughter- in-law, Michelle Clifton of Mooreville; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, King and Ruby Scruggs; son, James H. "Clif" Clifton III, and great-granddaughter, Noel Acevedo.
Visitation will be 4 until 6 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2018 at Iuka Church of Christ and 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo .
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Minister Lance Foster officiating. Graveside services will follow in Lee Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Matt McMahon, Brooks Crabtree, Ethyn English, Noah Timmons, Austin Richey, Alex Acevedo, Seth Weaver, and Mike Clifton.
Memorials may be made St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101 and Pine Vale Children's Home, 1872 County Road 700, Corinth, MS 38834.
