Anna Shirley McFadden

June 27, 1942 — March 9, 2018

Mooreville - Anna Shirley "Dean" McFadden, 75, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018, at the hospice unit of North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born in Magnolia, Illinois June 27, 1942, to Clarence Norman and Ruby A. Brake Lewis. Anna was raised in Paragould, Arkansas but had resided in Lee County all of her adult life. She was married to Edward Jefferson McFadden for 37 years until his passing on May 25, 2006. Anna spent most of her life as a homemaker but early in life had worked as an aide at Tupelo Manor. Not only did she enjoy caring for her family and her favorite dog, Coco, she also took in other children from her community and was affectionately referred to as "Mama Dean". She loved talking on the CB radio and was known by her handle, "Poke Salad". She never met a stranger and embraced life and all it had to offer. Anna made sure her family was in church every Sunday growing up and most recently was a member of Crossroads Christian Church.



Survivors include three daughters, Anna Arnold of Mooreville, Mary Cathcart of the home, and Virginia "Ginger" Denton of Mooreville; four sons, James Dale Arnold and his wife, Mary of Mooreville, Warren Wayne Arnold and his wife, Kellie of Mooreville, Johnny Douglas Arnold and his wife, Christy of Tupelo, and Danny Lee Arnold and his wife, Cindy of Skyline; 26 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters; one brother; and one grandson, Timothy Wayne Denton, II.



Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.



Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. James Lee Sparks officiating. A graveside service will follow at Sandy Springs Cemetery in Fulton.



Pallbearers will be James Dale Arnold, Danny Lee Arnold, Brandon Mansell, Tim Denton, Ken Cathcart, Timothy Ryan and Tommy Brent Denton.



Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Arnold, Alex Arnold and Tim Wicker.
