Anita Maples
Plantersville- Anita Louise Maples, 87, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born October 3, 1937, to William Arthur Herring and Ruth Louise Robison Herring. Anita spent the majority of her career as a seamstress at Hunter-Sadler, where her skill and precision were widely admired. She married Billy Maples, and together they shared 30 years of love and companionship.
Anita was a loving and devoted mother to her five sons, who were the joy and pride of her life. She found happiness in simple pleasures, such as browsing yard sales and flea markets and spending time tending to her garden. Her warmth, kindness, and steadfast dedication to her family and loved ones will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Anita leaves behind her husband, Billy Maples of Plantersville; two sons, Robert Owen Holcomb and his wife, Teresa, and Jimmy Allen Holcomb both of Tupelo; 13 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Clark of Tupelo, and Debbie Hutcheson and her husband, Bill, of Guntown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her first husband, Thomas Gene Holcomb; parents, William, and Ruth Herring; three sons, William Thomas Holcomb, Ricky Joe Holcomb, and James Earl Holcomb; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Holcomb.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Pegues, Tupelo.
Services honoring her life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues with Bro. Bobby Robbins officiating. Burial will be at Andrews Chapel Cemetery.
