Shannon - Alvin ?Bud? Tilson, 83, passed away surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at his home in the Old Union Community. He was born June 29, 1930 in Sunflower County to Louis and Allean Gant Tilson. He married Sarah Matthews on June 17, 1952 and together they celebrated sixty-one years of married life. He was a good and kind man, a responsible husband and father, always working to support his family thereby allowing his wife, Sarah, to be at home to raise their children. He was a farmer, worked at Penn Tire and also PeopleLounger. Of the Baptist faith, he attended Doty Chapel Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing and most especially, visiting the Woodman of the World camp every September.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2013 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Jim Manley officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Sarah Matthews Tilson, of the Old Union Community; three children, Roger Tilson (Joan) of Counce, Tennessee, Kathy Keith (Donald) of Wren and Bonnie Green (Harold) of the Old Union Community; five grandchildren, Shane Tilson (Tandi) of Savannah, Tennessee, Michael Joseph Tilson of Chicago, Illinois, April Keith Haynes (Dann) of Wren, Christy Shalene Davis (Doyle) of Counce, Tennessee and Joseph Keith Brooks (Candy) of the Evergreen Community; nine great-grandchildren, Taylor, Emily, Elijah, Jordan, Tyson, Sarah Katherine, Eva, David and Brody; one brother, Hugh Tilson (Thelma) of Pineville, Louisanna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Donavan Keith; his granddaughter, Amber Green; two brothers; one sister.
Pallbearers will be Harold Green, Donald Keith, Shane Tilson, Dann Haynes, John Matthews and Joseph Keith Brooks.
Honarary pallbearer will be Michael Joseph Tilson.
Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the funeral home.
