Shannon - Robert Alton Waters, 81, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at The North Mississippi Medical Center. A Shannon native and lifelong resident, he was born November 19, 1929 to O.B. and Clytee Beasley Waters. A graduate of Shannon High School, he then went on to Itawamba Junior College where he was a member of the first graduating class of IJC. He was an employee of Reed Manufacturing, retiring after 30 years of service. He was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Shannon.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Dean Moody officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Tula Conwell Waters of Shannon; his brother-in-law, Bobby Conwell (Myra) of Baldwyn; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, and six brothers-in-law.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to to a favorite charity honoring his memory.
