ALICE MCCULLOUGH STEVENS
TUPELOAlice McCullough Stevens, 97, died Thursday, January 5, 2006. She was the widow of W. Gamble Stevens. She had a multifaceted carrer. After finishing business school in Huntsville, AL. served as the Lee County Registrar for two years. She began working for the late J.W.P. Boggan, Attorney. She was a court reporter for the late Jude Jim Spradling, and also served as court reporter for the American Legion Conventions when they were held in this area. She worked with the late Guy P. Mitchell, Jr. in the Federal Housing Authority. She continued her career with the Natchez Trace Parkway. She was retired from the U.S. Agriculture Department. She was the oldest member of the First Christian Church of Tupelo. She loved her church, family and friends.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Eldridge Fleming and Rev. Ray Morton officiating. Burial will be at Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include two sisters, Ima McCullough Wilkins of New Albany, and Syvera McCullough, of Corinth; three nephews, Joseph T. Wilkins, III and wife, Anne, of Jackson, MS, Jerry McCullough and wife, Pat, of Boston, MA, and Ron McCullough and wife, Anne, of Sebastian, FL; three nieces, Bobby McFarling of Huntsville, AK, Carolyn Bowen of Tupelo, and Alice Stanley and husband, Kenneth, of Saltillo; one sister-in-law, Bertie May Johnston of Starville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Sadie McCullough of Tupelo; one brother, Merle McCullough, of Tupelo; one sister, Lucile McFarling, and a nephew, Bryce McFarling, both of Huntsville, AL.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. until service time on Saturday.
