Mantachie - Alice Marie Clouse, 74, died Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after a long battle with cancer. A native of Browntown, Wisconsin, she was born May 24, 1935, to John and Gladys Landon Svendsen. She was a longtime resident of Mantachie and retired from Mantachie Manufacturing. She was married to James Hamilton Clouse who died April 21, 2008. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed playing games online at pogo.com. She also loved gardening and feeding her humming birds.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Dalton Brown and Rev. Danny Rushing officiating. Her daughter, Carol Clarke will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Keyes Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Clarke and husband, Jeffery Alan, of Halifax, England and Tammie Sansone of Milford, Del.; three grandsons, Shane Honan (Catherine) of Fayetteville, N.C, Cory Burrington and Zackery Hamm, both of Milford, Del.; one great-grandson, Lucas Honan, one great-granddaughter, Sarah Honan; two sisters, Audrey Segner of Monroe, Wisc. and Doris Brabender (Clem) of Gurnee, Il.; and one brother, Don Svendsen of Browntown, Wisc.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 30 years, James Clouse; three brothers, John Svendsen, Wesley Svendsen, and Victor Svendsen; two sisters, Betty Svendsen and Elsie McGath; an infant son, Michael Burrington; and three grandchildren, Eric Sansone, Steven Steffan, and Megan Burrington.
Pallbearers will be Shane Honan, Cory Burrington, Zachery Hamm, Terry Duckworth, David Clouse, and Bart Hickman.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
