SaltilloAlice Bolen, 89, died Tuesday, April 01, 2008, at the Green Houses of Traceway after an extended illness. A native of Lee County, she was born August 18, 1918, to the late Newt and Carrie McCullough Knight. A lifelong Birmingham Ridge resident, she worked as a supervisor for Playcraft for many years. She was married to Dewey T. Bolen who preceded her in death. She was an avid fan of the Saltillo High School Tigers baseball team. She was a faithful member of Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church. She loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, friends, and church family and was dearly loved by them.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Holland and Rev. Lynn Sullivan officiating. Burial will be at McNeil Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her three daughters, Alice Bailey and husband, Joe, of Saltillo, Betty Caldwell and husband, Thomas, of Sherman, and Carolyn Tucker and husband, Mike, of Mooreville; her son, Johnny Bolen and wife, Gail, of Saltillo; 10 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dewey T. Bolen; a son, Gerald Bolen; and three brothers, Bill, Charles, and Chunk Knight.
Pallbearers will be Brian Bailey, Dan Payne, Spencer Hankins, Dylan Berbette, Bryce Berbette, David Bolen, Michael Tucker, and Wes McAlexander.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
