ALFRED ESCUE HUTCHESON Tupelo - Alfred Escue Hutcheson, 91, passed away Sunday, May 04, 2014, at Sanctuary Hospice House after a short illness. A Lee County native, he was born December 5, 1922, to Cass Bianca and Elsie Garrett Hutcheson. For over twenty five years he owned and operated Star Glass & Mirror Company located in Tupelo. A United States Army veteran, he served in the combat infantry during WWII where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a member of D.A.V. in Tupelo and a 32 degree Mason at the Saltillo lodge. He could be found woodworking, listening to ole time country music or dancing. He loved his family and cherished his friends. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Saltillo. A celebration of life with military honors will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Ken Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Francis Cemetery. He leaves behind two sons, Russ Hutcheson (Dorcas) of Saltillo and Dr. Gene Hutcheson (Linda) of Madison : eight grandchildren, Terry Hutcheson (Dede) of Pelham, Alabama, Scott Hutcheson (Jana) of Springfield, Tennessee, Mike Hutcheson (Anna) of Madison, Heather Segrest (Justin) of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, Alex Hutcheson and fiancé Sarah of Black Mountain, North Carolina, Dr. Erica Bass (Jonathan), Grant Hutcheson (Jenna) and Meredith Hutcheson all of Madison and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline Hutcheson, who died in 2001; one son, Rev. Harold Hutcheson; five sisters and four brothers.
