Albert L. Pierce Sr. passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was 85 years old. Born in Water Valley on January 2, 1938, he was the son of D.E. Pierce Sr. and Ruth Littleton Pierce. Albert was a meat department manager for several grocery stores over the years. He was a longtime resident of Haleyville, Alabama and relocated to Belden to be closer to family. On January 11, 1959, he married the love of his life, Cora Lee Pierce and they were blessed with 64 years together. He was a member of Corinth Heights Baptist Church in Haleyville where he served as a deacon for many years. Albert enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and Ole Miss Football.
He leaves behind his wife, Cora Lee Pierce of Belden; three children, Albert “Al” Pierce Jr. (Rhonda) of Horn Lake, Jimmy Pierce (Peggy) of Tupelo, and Renee McClurkan (Jim) of Amory; two grandchildren, Randall Pierce of Horn Lake and Brett Pierce (Allie) of New Albany; great-grandchildren, Pharis, and a new great-grandbaby due in December; and two brothers, Henry Pierce of Senatobia and Roy Pierce of Southaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, D.E. Pierce Jr.; and a sister, Patsy Pierce.
Services honoring Albert’s life will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Rev. Dr. Jim McClurkan and Dr. G. Lance Hogan officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley. Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Saturday at Pegues, Tupelo.
Pallbearers will be Randall Pierce, Brett Pierce, Charles Young, Philip Young, David Adderholt, and Jeff Snow.
