Eggville - Ada Funderburk, 89, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at her residence after an extended illness. A native of Vernon, Ala., she was born June 27, 1919, to Oscar and Geronnie Clearman Elliott. Her life was spent caring for the family she loved. An avid gardener, she enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables and spending time outdoors. She also enjoyed canning vegetables and cooking. She was a member of Cross Pointe Ministries.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy with Bro. Wayne Thorn and Bro. Edwin Pharr officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Hughes and husband, Jim, of McKinney, Tex., Diane Thompson and husband, Rev. David Thompson, of the Shiloh Community, and Sybil Thompson and husband, Emory, of the Eggville Community; one son, Dannie Funderburk and wife, Diana, of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Grace Northam and husband, B.R., of Vernon, Ala.; nine grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband 57 years, James Funderburk; three brothers and three sisters..
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kevin Funderburk, Jimmy Hughes, Jay Thompson, Bryan Thompson, Tracy Thompson, and Anthony Thompson
.
Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the church and will continue Saturday 1 p.m. until service time.
