WILLIAM H. PATE
Tupelo - William H. ?Buddy? Pate, 83, died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A Lee County native, he was born August 4, 1929, to the late Floyd and Josie Raper Pate. A U.S. Army veteran, he enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He loved all sports and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a member of Tupelo Church of God.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Jack Ezelle and Rev. Roger Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include one son, Joe Pate (Debbie) of Wildwood, Missouri; three grandchildren, Kaci Pate of Wildwood, Missouri, Jonathan Pate (Hailee) of Knoxville, Tennessee and Kiersten Pate of Tupelo; three sisters, Opal Parker (Gordon) of Shannon, Ova Joe Hall of Plantersville and Dovie Pate of Tupelo; two brothers, Gerald Pate of Aberdeen and Mark Pate (Betty) of Tupelo.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Frances P. Pate in January 2001; one son, Dennis Pate; one grandaughter, Jessica Pate; two sisters, Marie Kent and Elizabeth Sanders; three brothers, Floyd Jr., Jackie and Mike Pate.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Kent, Roger Sanders, Larry Patterson, Jeremy Pate, Will Pate and Jackie Lynn Pate.
Honorary pallbearers will be T.L Herring, Jimmy Sanders, Jimmy Dale Payne, Roger Franks, Jerry Grubbs and Wayne Hood.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. untill time of service Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1800 W. Main Street, Tupelo, MS 38801, American Lung Association, P.O. Box 2178 Ridgeland, MS 39158 or a charity or church of your choice.
