Lauren Johnson Chase
Lauren Johnson Chase, 32, went to her heavenly home while surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Houston Hospice in Texas. She was born December 13, 1983, to Dr. Gary and Nancy Johnson. Lauren graduated from Tupelo High School in 2002 and later graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2006, with a degree in Hospitality Management. While at Ole Miss, she was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and served as Marshall in charge of initiation of new members. Lauren was a sales specialist in the business travel sales department of Hilton Worldwide and recently received the Circle of Excellence Award that only a choice few are selected for worldwide. She was formerly the manager of Fairview Inn in Jackson. Lauren was very involved in numerous charities as a member of the Junior League of Chicago.
While in college, Lauren met David Chase in December of 2004, and they were married June 12, 2010. She loved her dogs, Annie and Gabbie. Lauren and David enjoyed traveling together, from small weekend trips to long weeks in Europe; however, their favorite past time was coming home for the holidays to spend time with family. As a wonderful cook, Lauren always enjoyed trying new foods and restaurants. While living in Chicago, Lauren enjoyed biking and outdoor concerts. Lauren and David were actively involved in Park Community Church in Chicago where they hosted small groups. She was an artist and enjoyed drawing and painting. Lauren was a very enthusiastic and upbeat woman who enjoyed gatherings with friends and family and going to the Grove for Ole Miss football games. Lauren was also very compassionate about others which lead her to donate a kidney to her sister, Leslie, in October.
Survivors include her husband, David G. Chase, Jr. of Chicago, formerly of Booneville; parents, Dr. Gary and Nancy Johnson of Tupelo; sister, Leslie Martin (Dan) of Houston, Texas and Stacy Wiese (Blain) of Shannon; grandmother, Eva Lois Johnson of Fulton; sisters-in-law, Lydia Chase of Booneville and Tara Herrington (Dr. Eric Herrington) of Meridian; nephews, John Eric and Ian Herrington; father and mother-in-law, Dr. David and Kara Chase of Booneville.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Vester Johnson of Fulton, Thellon Cody of Plantersville and Mr. and Mrs. Burleigh Russell of Corinth.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2016, at First Baptist Church, Tupelo and 12 p.m. until service time Saturday.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Gail Alexander, Rev. Tim West and Rev. Matt Powell officiating. Burial will be in Oxford Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Blain Wiese, Dan Martin, Lee Hendrick, Paul Tackett, Curt Griffin, and Joe Barber.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Fred Murphree and Dr. Eric Herrington.
