John Mathis

JOHN MATHIS John Thomas Mathis II made his journey to his heavenly home on December 31, 2014. He was born to Arthur and Mary Frances Mathis on July 24, 1930. He graduated from Water Valley High School and the University of Mississippi. He married the love of his life, Catherine McGregor, got his CPA, and embarked on a career with the Internal Revenue Service. He served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Harrisburg Baptist Church, and was later a member of Kings Gate Church. He was also a Gideon and served in a prison ministry. He was a member of the Full Gospel Business Men's Association, also. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, 3, 2015 at Tupelo Memorial Park with Bro. Terry Garrett officiating. He leaves behind his wife of 64 years; a daughter, Christi Senter (Don,); three sons, John Mathis, III (Keiko), Art Mathis (Pat), and Greg Mathis (Steffanie); grandchildren, Kathryn Robinson, Anne Marie Bailey, Meghan Senter, Hilary Vrocher (Diamond,) Meg Mathis, Cherry Mathis, Nick Mathis (Roderica), Jessie Mathis, Jack and Skylar; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Brenda Mathis Bailey, and two sisters, Jeannie Quattlebaum and Nettie Milstead. Visitation will be 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
