Mooreville - John Wood Smith, 65, died Friday, December 8, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Tupelo native, he was born January 26, 1941 to the late John Durant and Mildred Webb Smith. He was retired from Terra Chemical Company where he was manager over 15 years. He served 22 years in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed hunting and playing golf. He was a member of Furrs Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2006 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Buddy Rushing officiating. Burial will be in Boguefala Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Sonia Franks (Andy), of Burleson Tex.; one son, Matt Smith (Cheryl) of Aberdeen; four grandchildren, Chantz and Jake Smith and Andy and Alexis Franks; his caregivers, Misti Green and Addie Pitts.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
